This is my first review so obviously, i'm still getting used to the whole blogging idea. Basically, my blog is going to consist of me reviewing and putting up pictures of various mangas and animes I have read/watched. Soul Eater is definately one of my favorite mangas I have read. Atsushi Okubo brings to life a wonderful idea that I'm sure wouldn't have been formed if it wasn't for his creative outlook. The story takes place in Death Weapon Meister Academy which is located in Death City, Nevada (fictional place). The students are divided into meisters and weapons which work together in order to complete the task they are given. They, as a pair, have to collect 99 human souls and one of a witch in order to gain more power. Maka Albarn (meister) and Soul Eater (weapon) are brought together as a pair and have to fufill this difficult task. The two are also joined by friends who have the same mission in mind.
My first impression on the manga was not too great. The beginning chapters had sloppy and inexperienced drawings but as time went on and the characters developed so did the drawings. Despite my distaste in the beginning drawings the story line was so appealing that I simply couldn't put it down. The andventurous and supernatural genre is one that I really enjoy just as I enjoyed Soul Eater. Even though I usually enjoy
some sort of romance added to the mix, in this manga romance isn't very direct, yet chemistry can be detected between characters. As I continued reading various amusing characters were added, and that only increased my interest in the manga. I also enjoy the fact that repetition isn't a factor in this story. The author really created a nice variety in the ways Maka and Soul collected their bounties. Based on age and personality I can compare myself to the characters which helps me feel a stronger connection to the manga. Some mangas completely neglect school even though most of the scenes take place in a school hallway. The characters never seem to do their homework or even go to class for that matter. In this sense the author is more realistic (as realistic as one can be when writing a supernatural genre) and reminds the readers that the characters are still at a school and not wandering around the world carelessly.

Overall, Soul Eater was a delight to read. So far Atsushi Okubo did a great job in writing this manga. I'm excited to keep reading and suggest you read it as well. Please remember that anything I wrote in this post is me voicing my opinion and I don't mean any critisism hurtfully. Thanks for reading and stay tuned for my next manga review where I will be talking about Eden no Ori. Until then, read more mangas and enjoy some Japanese pop culture.
